The newly crowned light welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has arrived in the country last Friday and visited the Malacañang Palace last Monday. There is where he formally received Proclamation 1764, which declares May 11, as a national day of celebration it is according to President Arroyo herself.
Reports stated that Pacquiao was welcomed by the First Couple who both wore jackets handed to them as a personal gift by Pacquiao himself. Several cabinet officials, led by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, were also there to grace the event.
Pacquiao had a conversation with the President regarding his win over Ricky Hatton last May 3.
Moreover, Pacman has just received a special cake baked by Palace chefs which he usually receiving everytime he visits the Palace after his fights. The cake reportedly flashed the words “Pound-for-Pound King,” and featured a championship belt and a boxing glove design.
